Luckily, Microsoft has this amazingly well organized list called the Windows 7 Application Compatibility List for IT Professionals (Windows 7 compatibility check for any pc) that’s essentially a giant spreadsheet ful of applications, their version number, the company’s name and website, and the level of compatibility the software has with Windows 7.
A given software title might be “Compatible” which means it’ll work fine with Windows 7, or it might be listed as “Free update required”, “Paid update required”, “Future compatibility”, “Not compatible” or “No information available”, all of which are described in the spreadsheet.
The Windows 7 Compatibility Check List for IT Professionals spreadsheet is free and available for download here. Updates come out on a regular basis but you have to check for them at Microsoft Download Center.
