If your experiencing pc freeze, you may want to try adjusting your visual effects to improve performance and give you a faster pc, and do it without compromising your visual effects. I have tried many different combinations here, and what I share with you next, is in my opinion, the best of both worlds… Good visual effects AND improved performance.
1. Click the Start button (bottom left corner of your desktop screen), then RIGHT click on My Computer (or Computer for Vista & 7), then click on Properties, then click on Advanced system settings.
Make sure you are on the Advanced tab and then click on Settings in the Performance section (the top section).
2. Select the Custom option (make sure the round button is lit/selected).
3. Before clicking Apply, scroll to the bottom and select these 4 options only (if you don’t have all of these options listed on your PC then select only the ones you do have listed):
• Show thumbnails instead of icons (optional)
• Smooth edges of screen fonts
• Use drop shadows for icon labels on the desktop
• Use visual styles on windows and buttons
4. Click Apply (wait for your system to adjust), then click OK. Close any open windows.
Done!
